3rd UpDate on Hepatology Course Bucharest Romania 2016
It is a privilege to welcome you to the UpDate on Hepatology Course 2016 organized by the Romanian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (SRGH), Fundeni Clinical Institute (ICF) Bucharest and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF) „Carol Davila” Bucharest to take place on 28-29 of April at Crowne Plaza Hotel Bucharest.
The previous editions have achieved such popularity that we put great efforts to make our EASL endorsed course a traditional and major educational event in the field of hepatology in our country.
This will be the 3rd Annual Bucharest Hepatology Course and will be devoted to “Clinical Challenges, Unmet Needs and Emerging Therapies in Hepatology”. As in previous years, we remain confident to the scientific format organized in plenary sessions on very actual topics, integrating translational data with clinical aspects. The Scientific Committee has carefully selected seven plenary sessions structured around relevant topics for clinical practice with direct relevance to patient care: Managing Chronic Hepatitis B, Updates on Autoimmune and Cholestatic Liver Diseases, Alcoholic Liver Disease & Alcoholic Hepatitis, Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver and Steatohepatitis, Managing Chronic Hepatitis C, Managing the „difficult-to-treat” cirrhotic patient, as well as a plenary session looking in the future, to the Emerging therapies in hepatology. On account of their popularity in previous years the parallel case-based Workshops, enabling interactivity and practical case-based discussions will still be an integral part of this year’s program.
For 2016, we have also decided to introduce in the scientific format two new sections. In the Poster Section, young attendees are invited to present the results of their basic and translational research, competing for one of the three awards that the Scientific Committee has established. In addition, the Satellite Symposia section will complement the scientific programme offering a quick exposure to the state of research in the Industry.
Over the 2-day course you will have the unique opportunity to hear a series of outstanding presentations given by renowned national and international experts then interact and discuss informaly with them during the sessions, workshops and breaks between sessions.
Our educational aims remain to deliver updated knowledge, to share opinions and clinical experience, to build collaborative projects and to stimulate the implementation of an evidence-based approach, in order to ultimately improve the care and outcome of many people who suffer from liver diseases in Romania.
Finally, we would like to thank all those contributing to the 2016 meeting – the faculty, whose members have dedicated their time and expertise to support this challenging and insightful meeting, the organizing institutions, our generous sponsors and last but not least the participants, who have shown interest for the meeting agenda and give us the sense of this educational event.
On behalf of my co-directors, Anca Trifan and Ioan Sporea, I hope you will enjoy the meeting, the location – Bucharest in spring, just before the Orthodox Easter, learn a lot, interact with experts and colleagues, and build further collaboration.
